Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Mahmoud Hijazi and a military delegation participated in the Libyan National Army celebration of the 3rd anniversary of “Dignity” operation that liberated Libyan areas from terrorist organizations and armed militias.
Mahmoud Hijazi was received in the National Army headquarters and met Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Khalifa Haftar in and official ceremony attended by number of high ranked officers from both sides. This meeting discussed the internal and external situation in Libya and Egypt and the current challenges Libya faces. It also discussed military cooperation to secure borders, and to foil all attempts of smuggling through borders of the two countries.
Hijazi praised the historical relations between Libya and Egypt, declaring his trust in the ability of Libyan active organization to build a modern democratic country based on Libyan national constants. On the other hand, Khalifa Haftar thanked the Egyptian government for supporting the National army and agreed on cooperation with the Egyptian Armed forces to exchange expertise and training in many fields, mentioning all the exerted efforts to restore Libya’s stability and eliminate terrorism.
Mahmoud Hijazi, Khalifa Haftar and number of army leaders met some of the elders and dignitaries of Libyan tribes who confirmed the importance of the Egyptian role in solving the Libyan crisis and thanked the Egyptian political leaders for their support. Hijazi expressed his appreciation towards the mutual relations between the two countries and the exerted efforts to eliminate terrorism.
The visit is a continuation of Egypt's efforts to support the Libyan army in its war against terrorism and to complement the Egyptian role in finding political solutions to the Libyan crisis based on Libyan agreement, so that Libya will enjoy stability and security.
