The Egyptian Ministry of Justice for illicit gain affairs has ordered to freeze all transferred, real estate and liquid money of former PM Ahmed Shafiq and his daughters Shereen, Mai, and Omnia. Furthermore Shafiq has been put on watch and is on a travel banning list.
Justice ministry spokesman chancellor Ahmed Roshdy Salam said: "This decree is coming on the back ground on current investigations accusing Shafiq of corruption crimes and illegal profiteering in the highlight of reports received from monitoring sides about expanding the size of his fortune."
The chancellor and the investigation judge Osama El Seidy decided to form a committee including illicit gain, public fund and real estate authority departments in order to investigate the presented report against Shafiq and others who have been accused of seizing public money including Egyptian housing association for air force pilots, the presence of financial irregularities in the association projects at the North Coast and Casablanca, and fifth residential compound in new Cairo city.
The committee will investigate all villas ownership documents for Shafiq and his wife and the member of board of directors in the association General Mohamed Reda Sakr, also his nephew
The committee will also investigate documents from other officials in the association who have violated housing law by obtaining villas and chalets in the North Coast in other projects, in addition to obtaining more than thirteen people (not pilots) and their families to housing units in the North Coast project and the fifths residential compound.
Shafiq described the report in his press declarations by "the mad action" which targeting hampering his political career adding "I have warned many times, till I fed up, my reply will be so fierce".
Shafiq said that "officials shouldn’t forget that I was an ex-presidential candidate, as my financial situation was formerly reviewed and credited without any recent modifications."
