Soldiers raided a major commercial building on Battal
Ahmed Abdel-Aziz Street late Wednesday afternoon after unknown assailants opened fire from the roof.
Witnesses told Arab Today that they heard gunshots as soldiers surrounded the premises near Mostafa Mahmoud Square.
The area was cordoned off and roads closed amid fears of further attacks against civilians and security authorities.
The army told residents that a major security operation was underway, urging them to stay away from windows.
According to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), a security source said that those detained had no possession of weapons. Security forces are now searching the buildings for weapons used in the attack.
