Fatah and Hamas seal reconciliation
Gaza - Mohammad Habib

Fatah and Hamas seal reconciliation Palestinian sources confirmed to ‘Arabstoday’ that Fatah and Hamas have agreed in Cairo on the actual implementation for returning Fatah’s members who fled from Gaza after Hamas takeover of it on June 2007. Dozens of Fatah members left Gaza to Egypt, as some of them were invloved in  clashes between Fatah and Hamas, and Fatah.
At the beginning of 2011, the Palestinian President and Fatah Chairman had issued an order to return Fatah members to Gaza, but most of them rejected it, so the Palestinian Authority had decided to cut their salaries.
According to the sources, the Palestinian Authority provided them with rented houses in addition to their salaries and  they were included in the staff of the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo, yet Egyptian authorities didn’t accept some of their practices and called Abbas to return them to Gaza.
The sources said that the agreement of returning them to Gaza will be implemented very soon, before that, Hamas will issue a “general amnesty” for the accused persons in criminal cases, while the others could return to Gaza in the coming few days.
For his part, Faisal Abu Shahla, a senior official in Fatah, and its member in the Palestinian Legislative Council PLC, said that the agreement that was signed by Fatah and Hamas in Cairo aimed to end all kinds of the Palestinian division and give Fatah members the right to return to Gaza.
Every member will return to Gaza according to their case, with the guarantees of the Egyptian leadership, he explained, noting that Hamas allowed them to return according to the reconciliation agreement, and this puts Hamas credibility on test.
He also stressed the need to issue “general amnesty,” pointing out to some Fatah members whom returned to Gaza and got arrested by Hamas, and then got released after being investigated.
Whereas, the spokesman of the Ministry on Interior in Gaza government, Ihab Al-Ghasen denied arresting any member of Fatah whom had returned to Gaza, pointing out that investigating them is normal procedure.
He also expected that, Hamas will issue a political decision of general amnesty to any member of Fatah that was involved in a criminal issue, to start a new phase of the Palestinian - Palestinian relationship.
