Violent conflict in Damascus between government and FSA
The Syrian opposition confirmed that government troops taking orders from President Assad had killed 47 citizens on Thursday. Clashes resumed between the Free Syrian Army and governmental
troops in various Syrian cities.A number of countries including Russia, Iran, China and Lebanon condemned the Israeli attack on a Syrian site on Wednesday. According to American sources, the Israeli government claimed that the attack targeted a convoy delivering weapons to Lebanon’s Hezbollah.
Israeli security officials stressed that the attack was aimed at maintaining a military gap between Israel and Lebanon’s Shiite party to protect Israeli, and warned that the manoeuvre would not be the last of its kind.
Syrian network Sham confirmed that Damascus had witnessed violent clashes between the governmental troops and Free Syrian Army that led to the deaths of over 47 citizens on Thursday. Troops from the Syrian regime launched attacks against a number of neighbourhoods in Homos and Aleppo. Activists broadcasted a number of videos illustrating the destruction witnessed.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry expressed its anxiety over the repercussions of the Israeli manoeuvre in the Syrian territories. It stressed that it condemned such attacks, adding the Israelis launched fire on the Syrian territories without any justification. China also called for regional peace and security, condemning Israel’s actions and demanding that the different parties act to avoid escalation.
Lebanon’s President Michal Soliman also condemned the Israel, suggesting that the country is using the deteriorating situation in Syria to execute its aggressive policies. He stressed that the Israeli government ignores international agreements and treaties, and criticized Israel’s absence from the recent session held by the UN Human Rights Council on Syria.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi concurred, and added that the attack revealed terrorist coalitions working to destabilize the region. He added that the Syrian government and people have the right to respond by supporting the resistance.
The Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil el-Araby condemned the attack, considering it a violation. He added that the Israeli government should bear the responsibility, stressing the right of Syrians to defend their country.
The Former Head of Foreign Security for Israel said that the attack aimed to protect Israel, and expressed his country’s anxiety of the dangers that could threaten its security during the coming period.
