Saudi hacker oxOmar to penetrate websites belonging to Israeli sovereign ministries
Jerusalem – Sona Aldeak
Israeli sources announced that they thwarted several attempts by the Saudi hacker oxOmar to penetrate websites belonging to Israeli sovereign ministries, however they indicated that the hacker was
able to access Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon’s web page, where he left a message saying “you can’t stop me”. The same sources said that the hacking attempts imply intentions of targeting strategic websites. Meanwhile, Israeli radio reported that the Saudi hacker may have been behind the shutdown of the websites of the Israeli National Airline El Al and Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) on Monday.
Following the cyber attack on the website of the Israeli stock exchange, the page was temporarily suspended, without however hampering the work of the stock exchange. El Al also stated that they closed their internet website temporarily, for fear of being attacked by the Saudi hacker, thus, passengers were not able to do online booking through the website.
Panic spread in Israel after the hacker was able to gain access to thousands of credit cards, and announced his intention to resume his attacks. The Saudi hacker called on activists supporting Palestinians and Hamas to promote the “cyber war against the Israeli occupation.”
Israeli newspapers and websites stated earlier on Tuesday that the Saudi hacker succeeded in the incursion of the websites of the Israeli Stock Exchange and El Al Israeli Airlines, where he put up a message on the website of El Al stating the page is “under construction”. He was also able to hack the websites of three Israeli banks.
On a different note, the website of the Saudi Ministry of Education was hacked by a group called “Challenges Hackers”, which conducted several cyber attacks on Israeli government websites, including Ministry of Defense, leading to the leak of significant information.
