Jordan's Chief Justice denounces Syrian war crimes
In an unexpected political statement, Jordan's Chief Justice Ahmed Helayel said that: “What is happening to our people and brothers in Syria is a disgrace to the Arab and Islamic nation.” The statement came
two days after Jordan's King Abdullah II said that he “refuses any foreign interference in Syria."
Helayel also told to the Jordanian newspaper Ad-Dostour (The Constitution) on Thursday that “what is going on in Syria is a hateful sectarian war and war crimes are being carried out against unarmed people, who are helpless in the face of a bunch of oppressing transgressing fascists who killed innocent people, terrorized and tortured pure children, demolished mosques and burned and destroyed houses of their people”. He added that it is the responsibility of all the nation, rulers and ruled, to take an honest, sincere and immediate stance to stop this aggression. Helayel also said that those who sought support in us are part of us and that we are obliged to give them care and support, both physically and morally, pointing out that the authorities as well as the 'noble Jordanian people' have showed all support to them.
He assured that Jordanians will always be side by side with their displaced homeless brethren, 'as God commanded us to do.'
The Chief Justice concluded his statement asking God to help and support the 'defenseless' people in Syria.
