King Salman bin Abdul Aziz
Tokyo - Waleed Siam

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz said, on Monday, that "terrorism has become the biggest threat to the security of the world and people, and there is an urgent need to intensify international efforts to resolve the issues and crises in the Middle East, including the Palestinian cause, and put an end to the conflict in Syria and Yemen.
King Salman said in a speech after the official talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe that "the crises in the region have a negative impact on the stability and development, and impeding the growth of international trade, as well as threaten the energy supplies to the world.
He added: "Terrorism has become the greatest threat to the security of nations and peoples, and we are essential partners in the fight, as we need to increase international efforts and hard work in order to deepen the dialogue between the followers of religions and cultures and spread a spirit of tolerance and coexistence between peoples.
The Saudi monarch and his delegation have kicked off a four-day Japan visit Sunday, marking the first trip to the country by a Saudi king in 46 years.
Coordination exists in terms of regional and international issues, including the Arab peace initiative, fighting the proliferation of nuclear arms, and achieving security and stability in Yemen through backing its legitimate government. Counter-terrorism efforts are also a part of that coordination.
Saudi Arabia is the largest provider of oil exports for Japan, which relies on Middle East for energy to power the world’s third largest economy.
Japan hopes to use the visit to widen its relations with Saudi Arabia and help the country’s efforts to diversify its economy, including exploring ways to increase Japanese investments in non-energy sectors such as manufacturing, according to officials. Expected discussions also include a range of bilateral and regional issues, conflicts in the Middle East, Saudi-Japanese cooperation within the framework of the Vision 2030, and commercial partnership with special reference to the Saudi Aramco IPO.
On Wednesday, the King and his delegation will proceed to China, followed by Maldives and Jordan
