Cairo – Akram Ali

Mubarak’s trial adjourned to hear prosecutor’s argument Cairo – Akram Ali Cairo's Criminal Court chaired by Judge Ahmed Refaat decided to adjourn the trial of the ousted president, which also includes his two sons, his former Interior Minister Habib el-Adli, and six of his top aides, to three sessions on December 3rd, 4th, and 5th, in order to hear the prosecutor’s argument.
The court listened to the requests of the civil rights plaintiffs and defendants, in addition to the prosecution’s input on the restoration of tapes and recordings that were seized by the Television and Radio Union. The general prosecutor commented on the court’s order to use the help of television experts to restore recordings that have been spoiled, saying that such a thing would be impossible.
“All martyrs and injured in this case were killed in Egypt’s squares, and not in front of police stations, as the cases of the police officers in different police stations were referred to court as separate case,” said the prosecutor, who added that the number of martyrs reached 225, whereas 1363 injured were registered, in addition to more reports that were submitted after this case was already referred to the criminal court.
The prosecution representative presented a letter from the Interior Ministry holding the mandates of el-Adli while in charge of the ministry. Whereas the defense of Ahmed Ramzi, former head of the Central Security Forces and the sixth suspect in Mubarak’s trial, requested the release of all suspects, including Mubarak on account of his “deteriorating health condition.”
Ismail el-Shaer’s defense – former head of Security in Cairo – requested summoning Colonel Amr al-Ragouli, who was responsible for securing the US embassy, to interrogate him on the break out of cars from the embassy during the revolution.
Habib el-Adli’s defense held on to summoning General Sami Anan, and requested a list which includes the names of all those killed and injured in Squares and in front of police stations, as well as summoning all heads of Security in governments across Egypt.
Meanwhile, Mubarak supporters waiting outside the Police Academy, where the trial is held, called for million-man protests on January 25 to celebrate the Police Day.
Pro-Mubaraks repeated chants from outside the academy saying “raise your head you are Hosni”, “Sorry is not enough for 30 years of protection.”
On a different note, the security forces placed security cordons in front of the Police Academy, where hundreds of Central Security officers stood, in addition to three military armored vehicles and several ambulances.
