Syrian sources say bodies found in Quweiq River are from Bustan al-Qasr district Over 200 people were killed across Syria on Wednesday during violent clashes between the rebel groups and Syrian governmental forces. In Aleppo, 118 people lost their lives as the battle for control in the northern city intensified. Authorities also found the bodies of 80 men, killed with a single bullet and dumped in the Quweiq River, which separates the Bustan al-Qasr district from Ansari in the southwest of the city.
In Damascus witnessed, clashes erupted between governmental troops and the rebel forces, as members of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) opened fire on a police station. Government troops continued to attack the capital's southern neighbourhoods. Nine people were killed during the attacks that targeted Darya city.
In Hamat city, security was stepped up after residents organised a number of demonstrations, calling the ruling regime to be overthrown.Syrian National Coalition announced a state of public mourning on Tuesday and criticised the international community in its failure in dealing with the human rights violations committed against the Syrian people. It called on international rights organisations to take the necessary measures to prosecute those who commit such crimes. It also stressed the need to refer the Syrian issue to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and take legal action against senior Syrian figures. An offcial from FSA told a French news agency that "all the victims are civilians."
On the other hand, a security source in the Syrian government said that the dead bodies found in Quweiq River are the bodies of citizens from Bustan al-Qasr district, adding that terrorist groups kidnapped them for being loyal to the ruling regime. State television has not commented on the incident.
Syria’s former vice-president Abdel-Halim Khaddam has called on heads of Arab states to form a military coalition and save the Syrian people, stressing the need for international intervention to overthrow the Syrian regime. He said the Syrian people should be given the "necessary arms to defend themselves."
He also said that the Arab approach to exclude prominent military powers in the region who could perform an important role in the Syrian arena, is likely to have a negative impact.
On the diplomatic side, the UN envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi said that the current war is Syria would destroy the country, stressing that the peace process has not achieved any progress. He added that the legitimacy of the Syrian regime has been strongly harmed.
US ambassador to Syria Robert Ford expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate with the Syrian interim government, while he asked about the mechanisms through which they would form the government. He added that his country was hoping to adopt a political solution for the Syrian crisis, stressing that any military solution could take a long time.
Spokesperson of China’s Foreign Ministry called on the Syrian regime and opposition parties to adopt a pragmatic approach to finding a serious solution for the current Syrian crisis.
