The upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump in Paris on November 11 will be held taking into account the outcome of the future political landscape following the mid-elections to the US Congress. In light of that, the parties will outline their prospects for cooperation in the future, Speaker of Russia’s Federation Council (upper house of parliament) Valentina Matviyenko told reporters on Wednesday.
She noted that the two presidents’ meeting would take place after the November 6 midterm congressional elections in the US. "In my opinion, these negotiations will, of course, take into account this [new] balance of political forces and outline the prospects for our further cooperation. We anticipate that the results of these talks will be positive," the speaker stressed.
On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with White House National Security Adviser John Bolton. Kremlin Aide Yuri Ushakov said after the talks that Putin and Trump would meet in Paris on November 11, where celebrations will be held to mark the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended WWI.
