Syrian governmental troops launched an artillery attack against Yarmouk Refugees Camp, as they targeted Tadamon district with a missile. In Damascus’ countryside, a massacre took place in the town of Hmouriyeh in the eastern Ghouta because of rocket hits on civilian houses, killing 6 martyrs and many wounded, while the city of Saqba and the towns of Muhammadiyah and Beit Naim suffered similar bombardments.
Violent clashes have erupted between opposition factions on one hand and governmental troops loyal to Syria’s former President Bashar Al Assad, as the governmental troops attempted to achieve advance in the areas controlled by the opposition. The governmental troops launched artillery attack against the districts near the Syrian capital of Damascus with no information about humanitarian losses.
The governmental troops raided Arbeen town of Damascus’ eastern ghouta, as they targeted areas in Harasta with a number of shells leading to material damages with no information about humanitarian losses. The residents of Madaya city found the body of young man with signs of torture. They accused the governmental authorities of killing him.
In the same context, Syrian Arab Army forces, on Wednesday, destroyed two vehicles belonging to the Islamic State group in Wadi al-Uzaib area, while foiled an attack on military checkpoints, in eastern Hama, a source told the Syrian News Agency.
The source said that an army battalion engaged in clashes with the Islamic State militants that attacked military checkpoints, in Salmeya area, in eastern Hama. Security forces managed to foil the attack, after killing several terrorists of the Islamic State and destroying their armed vehicles, the source added. Meanwhile, army forces also destroyed two vehicles, including an armed one, belonging to the terrorist group, in Wadi al-Uzaib area, east of Salmeya City.
A woman was wounded in the explosion of an improvised explosive device, in the vicinity of Sarakeb town, in the eastern countryside of Idlib, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Monday. The observatory also said that several areas in Kafrzita town, on the northern countryside of Hama, were shelled using rockets by the Syrian regime forces, causing material damage to the area. The Syrian forces also shelled areas in al-Zeyara and al-Masheek towns, in the northwestern countryside if Hama, but no casualties were reported.
The opposition Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says rebels remain in control of parts of the Qaboun neighborhood, which along with Barzeh and Jobar, formed an arc from the northern to the eastern edge of Damascus.
The Syrian media report says the military recaptured Qaboun Saturday, as the evacuation of adjacent besieged rebel-held neighborhoods was underway.
If confirmed, this increases the government's security belt around the capital and strips the opposition of another prized territory in the area. Rebels had held onto a number of neighborhoods on the edge of Damascus since the early days of the uprising, representing the most threatening opposition presence near the government's seat of power.
The evacuation of hundreds of residents of the Barzeh and Tishreen neighborhoods began last week. They were bused out to a rebel-held province in the north following an agreement with the government, emulating previous successful evacuations in other besieged areas that were also criticized as forced displacement.
