U.S. State Department says, Washington has not decided on the visa application submitted by the Yemeni outing President Ali Abdullah Saleh. The request form is still at the U.S. Embassy in Sanaa, on the
contrary to the statement giving by the government saying that Saleh called off his therapeutic trip to America, to facilitate the work of National Reconciliation Government and to organize presidential elections next month.
Spokesperson Victoria Noland said, "We think that Saleh needs to step aside and let the transitional process move forward towards what has been agreed upon. We want to see the Vice President and the opposition, continue to work towards democracy in Yemen."
“If Saleh stays Yemen”, she noted, “the transitional process may move forward, provided that there is no interference in the course of things."
On helping Saleh to be treated in other places such as Europe, Canada or Australia, Noland said, "We will not meddle in his plans to travel, in any way."
"According to the agreement of solving the political crisis in Yemen, Saleh has transfered his powers to Vice President, Abd-Rabu Mansour Hadi, who currently oversees the transitional phase."
Saleh has signed the agreement, "in front of the whole world. The U.S. and the international community are committed to work on effecting this agreement," U.S. National Security Council spokesman, Tommy Vietor, told AFP, Wednesday.
