Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al Jaafari said on Saturday that the victory achieved against Daesh terrorist group in Iraq represents a victory for all the world countries.
Speaking at a joint press conference with the French Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Dafense, al Jaafari noted that Paris has suffered from terrorism. Nice terror attack was an example of such criminal acts committed by extremist groups.
Al Jaafari pointed out that coordination between Iraq and France contributed to achieving such a victory against Daesh in Iraq.
He urged supporting Iraq in this new phase in reconstruction efforts aiming at building cities destroyed by terrorist groups.
The Iraqi top diplomat said that Iraqi forces liberated about 70 percent of Tal Afar over the past days.
Al Jaffari pointed out that France has provided air cover in addition to information and logistic support for the Iraqi army in its battle against Daesh terrorist group.
Such a victory against terror is not the end of Daesh threat,
as preventive security measures should be maintained in order to prevent the spread of terrorism cells once again, al Jaafari added.
He also expounded that the Iraqi experiment stressed the necessity of joint cooperation to fight terrorists and deter them from repeating the Iraqi scenario in other countries.
Al Jaafari called on the international community to cooperate with Baghdad to achieve justice and equality in Iraq.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that Paris is supporting Iraq in both war and peace within the framework of reinforcing partnership between the two countries.
Le Drian noted that this visit with the French minister of armed forces came upon directives by French President Emmanuel Macron, as Iraq is passing through a critical phase between war and peace.
Iraq has emerged from war as a result of courage and determination of Iraqi forces. The new phase of Iraqi reconciliation and reconstruction has been launched while war against Daesh hasn't ended yet, Le Drian said.
French Minister of Armed Forces Florence Parly voiced appreciation of the success achieved by Iraqi forces in their war against Daesh.
Parly pointed out that Iraqi efforts in this phase are targeting the liberation of Tal Afar city and Iraqi forces are definitely capable of achieving such victory.
