Senior Hamas member Mahmoud Zahar (R)

Israeli news website, Tik Debka, reported that the visit of Hamas leader, Dr Mahmoud al Zahar, to Tehran was in preparation for the expected Israeli war against Iran. The website mentioned that the leaders of Hamas, particularly Zahar and
Marwan Issa (who is described by Israel as “deputy chief of staff”), have reached a deal which outlines that the movement would fight on the same side as Iran, Syria and Hezbollah in case Israel starts a war targeting Iranian nuclear facilities.
According to the website, the mentioned deal was reached during Zahar’s tour (8 – 12 September) which included meetings with Hassan Nasrallah (Secretary General of Hezbollah) and Iranian leaders. It also reported that the meetings were concluded by the signing of an agreement that determines the details of Hamas’ participation tin the war, and that both Zahar and Issa signed more detailed and specific military protocols in Beirut and Tehran, on August 7.
The site claimed that the signed protocols specifically define the details of how, when, under what conditions and on what basis Hamas would intervene in case the expected war erupts.
Salah Bardawil, Spokesman of Hamas, denied what was published by the newspaper and said that these are all lies created by the Zionist (Israeli) military intelligence for various reasons, such as preparing public opinion for more attacks on Gaza, creating chaos and inventing reasons to target specific leaderships.
In his statement on Tuesday evening, Bardawil said “although the Zionist enemy (Israel) doesn’t need reason, these lies facilitate its aggressive mission to create chaos in the region, especially as it (Israel) is protected by the coming American elections.”
Bardawil warned against Israel starting a war without knowing its consequences and implications because the international community will have to bear them all, which will be an very expensive cost.
He invited everyone to take the appropriate actions to restrain these Israeli intentions, which, according to the statement, are obvious in the statements of its political and military leaders, and also reflected in continuous military trainings and incitements.
Dr Mahmoud al Zahar also firmly denied what was reported by Israeli media about his last tour in the region.
In a statement on Tuesday, he concurred with Bardawil, saying that these “lies” are only preparations for a new attack on Gaza Strip, aimed at confusing the Palestinian people and losing the support of countries, including Iran.
