Dominique Da Silva has struggled to break into Ahly's first team
Al-Ahly duo Emad Moteab and Dominique Da Silva are looking to leave the club, after being left on the fringes by manager Hossam el-Badry, during the FIFA Club World Cup.
Da Silva says he was intentionally ignored by el-Badry during the competition and is concerned about his future at the club. He refused to participate in training as a protest against the coach’s stance, stressing that he was not injured as Badri claimed in press conferences. "I will not wait for the return of league football in Egypt. I am a football player and I am thinking about leaving for a club outside Egypt," he said.
Meanwhile, another Ahly striker, Emad Moteab is also considering his future at the Cairo club, primarily due to suspension of the domestic league. Moteab said, "the circumstances at Ahly are discouraging, because the team does not play as much and the league situation is vague."
He added that el-Badry's insistence on playing other strikers, and plans to sign a new forward meant he is no longer parts of the long-term plans.
