Goran Tovaric has settled on his final team for the upcoming league
Cairo – Hossam Alsaid
Goran Tovaric, the Serbian coach of the Kuwaiti national football team, settled on his final team list ahead of 2013 Gulf Cup of Nations, kicking off in Bahrain this month.
But there are some surprises after Tovaric’s team card missed
off Mohammed Al-Dahash and Talal Fadel due to tournament regulations, despite showing “commitment and skill” at training camp in Abu Dhabi. Both players expressed their understanding behind the coach’s decision.
Instead the Serbian coach chose Mohammed Rashid, Hussein Fadel, Amer Maatouq, Mossaed Nada, Ali Maqseed, Fahad Awad and Mohammed Freih in the defence line. Tovaric will also take five players up front, with Bader Al Mutawa, Abdulhadi Al-khamis, Fahd Al-Rashidi, Yousef Nasser and Abdulrahman Al-Shammari.
The head of the Kuwaiti delegation at the tournament Youssif Alyatami expressed his “appreciation” for both players, explaining that "the exclusion of the players was not easy decision, but the tournament system put coaching staff in a difficult position."
The Kuwaiti national team are due to head to Bahrain next Thursday after completing training in Abu Dhabi.
