Mohamed Raouraoua is seeking a third term in Algeria
President of the Algerian Football Federation, Mohamed Raouraoua, has announced his intention to run for another term in the upcoming elections.
Speaking to the media, he said the decision was taken upon the request
of a number of prominent members in the game.
The FAF's Electoral General Assembly will hold a meeting on March 7, with Raouraoua being the first candidate to put his name forward.
In the meantime, Raouraoua has backed Algerian coach Vahid Halilhodži? ahead of next month's African Cup of Nations. He said the team is targeting a semi-finals spot in South Africa, to be considered as one of the best four footballing nations in the region.
Speaking about Halilhodži?, the FAF president said that the head coach's position was safe even if he failed to deliver in the CAF tournament. Raouraoua revealed that both France and Qatar have declared an interest in Halilhodži?'s services, but he is a key part of the FAF's plans, beyond the African competition.
Raouraoua is currently serving his second term as president, with the first running from 2001 to 2005.
