Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation, ADMAF, and the Barjeel Art Foundation, in association with Emirates Writers Union, last night hosted the second talk in the In Conversation series, part of the Sky Over The East exhibition at Emirates Palace Gallery.
The talk, entitled Pen to Brush: The Journey of a Scholar-Artist brought together featured artist, Ali Abdan, and Sameh Kaawach from ADMAF to discuss Ali s relationship with the visual arts, both as an artist and an academic, as they together examined the U.A.E. visual arts movement.
As one of the featured artists in the month-long exhibition which celebrates International Museum Day, the talk also explored how Ali s own style and approach to art has developed over the years in conjunction with the evolving art landscape of the U.A.E.. The talk also divulged how the U.A.E. art landscape looks set to evolve into the future.
The third and final talk in the In Conversation series takes place on June 16th in Emirates Palace Gallery. Entitled Museum Collections Make Connections in association with New York University Abu Dhabi Institute, the talk will seek to explore the role of museums in the 21st century.
