The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Dubai Culture, the Emirate's dedicated authority for culture, arts, and heritage, will mark its second year of partnership with the Middle East Film and ComicCon, MEFCC 2015.
The MEFCC, a highlighted event under Dubai Art Season, the umbrella arts initiative by Dubai Culture, is the region's largest pop culture festival set to take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from April 9th to 11th.
Once again this year, Dubai Culture is highlighting its continuous support to local artists by providing a platform for them to artistically express their passion at the Artists' Alley. Featuring an array of pieces by Emirati and UAE-based artists, it allows visitors to get up close and personal with several independent pop-culture enthusiasts and their respective collections. Comic lovers will be astounded with the seamless selection of attractions at the event.
Part of MEFCC is ‘Game of Arts', a continuation of the previously held Art Wars 2014. ‘Game of Arts' will feature the talented art works of 20 regional artists who were given the challenge of designing a collection of shields inspired by the fantasy worlds of Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings.
The artists will be showcasing their unique artistry to define their vision of the legendary fantasies loved by many. The shields were provided by one of the few remaining traditional Viking blacksmiths, Oddvar Lonnerkrantz, and will officially be unveiled in The Dubai Mall today and will be displayed during MEFCC.
Lubna Al Shamsi, project leader of Dubai Art Season and Sikka Art Fair, said, "The Middle East Film and ComicCon has quickly risen to being one of the most awaited events in Dubai. By giving a platform to the latest pop culture trends and artistic talent, Dubai Culture continues to show its commitment in showcasing the city's burgeoning art scene."
The activities under ‘Dubai Art Season' will play an integral role in highlighting the growth of its creative industries within the regional and international circuit.
