Syrian refugees in Zaatari camp
Dubai - Arab Today

Syrian refugees in Zaatari camp A photo exhibition showcasing the works of Syrian children who snapped pictures of their living conditions in refugee camps will be organised in Dubai.Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince , had previously ordered dispatching a team from the Hamdan Bin Mohammad International Photography Award (HIPA) to the Emirati-Jordanian camps for Syrian refugees. The team distributed cameras to children, who took the photos of their surroundings.
The initiative stemmed from Shaikh Hamdan's desire to offer something unique to the Syrian children that is different from the UAE's humanitarian commitment reflected in the distribution of aid to their Syrian brothers and sisters.
In recognition of the participation and contribution of the children, he also ordered publishing a booklet that will include all the displayed photos.
The idea aimed to provide emotional support to the children, and to give them the ability to project the realities of their everyday life to the rest of the world. The photos were forwarded to Shaikh Hamdan, who was touched by the simplicity and the powerful meanings behind those photographs that depicted the everyday life of Syrian refugee children.
Shaikh Hamdan immediately ordered organising an exhibition, titled Wujooh (Arabic for ‘Faces') which will showcase the 128 photos, captured by the children and the HIPA team during their visit to the camp.
Shaikh Hamdan also ordered producing a detailed documentation of the journey of HIPA's team in the refugee camp that expressed the children's love for the UAE and its people.
