Sara Al Haddad is one to watch in the world of art
"I Know, I Knew" is Sara Al Haddad’s second solo exhibition in Dubai and comes at the end of her residency period in DUCTAC’s Gallery of Light. The work on show uses a methodology of deconstruction and reconstruction in
order to explore the process of adjusting and readjusting expectations. Hidden layers are exposed to become new focal points. Previously unseen details are thrown into a differing context, illustrating how the true nature of things is often disguised.Sara Al Haddad is an emerging Emirati artist born in 1988.
Underlying the themes in her work is a keen exploration of physical experience, at times emphasising traditional female experience.
Her works are as much about her personal journey as an artist as they are about a desire to articulate broader social issues.
Al Haddad was short-listed for the Sheikha Manal’s Young Artist Award, and was also a finalist in the New Era Introducing Competition (2011).
Her first solo exhibition, “Bursting at the Seams”, took place at the end of 2012 at The Pavilion Downtown Dubai.
