The 2013 budget is special for Sudan
A financial expert said Sudan’s annual budget this year has seen many changes after the agreement with the South on several economic issues.
Dr. Mahy Khalaf said the 2013 budget must support agriculture and production in Sudan.
The state minister for finance and national economy Dr Abdulrahman Derar said "the 2013 budget is special because of the new circumstances in Sudan.”
Deputy financial minister Youssif Abdullah said "the oil revenues agreements with the south states that the oil is allocated to increase production."
He urged for the budget committee to control the exchange rate in the new annual budget.
Sudan is suffering economic problems because of a loss in oil revenues to the South after the separation.
Agriculture is also a problem and the main Sudanese production sector. However, the government is trying hard to improve its gold production.
Khalaf said "the new year budget is different from last year budget as it was reformed several times during the year following the referendum."
He said the country will adopt a tripartite economic program involving tough measures designed to contain the fallout from the country’s loss of three quarters of its oil production
"Sudan 2013 can be financially better than Sudan 2012," he said.
