Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) has merged and standardised all data and possessed information that belongs to the chamber and Expo Centre Sharjah. The chamber’s Information Technology Management Department took the lead in bringing the completion of the project into reality after a few months from launching and joining efforts with the aim to maximize speed and efficiency in the way business is conducted. SCCI’s move comes as a result of the chamber’s continuous interest in the development of its operations and upon directives from H.E. Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, the chamber’s board chairman, to unify business performance mechanisms, within its all working units, and for all parties involved to benefit from their potentials and capabilities by providing excellent services that would inspire the business community.
The merge between the two bodies will significantly offer practical, smooth and fast mechanisms in handling and processing all sorts of data and information that are to be provided by the government and private sectors, and so corporations, companies, working institutions, in addition to individuals comprising business people, specialists and experts.
Work for this mega project started earlier this year with the objective to establish a centralised virtual database scheme that would come under the supervision and management of SCCI. The execution of the merging process started by exploiting operating servers, utilising available equipment and exploiting the chamber’s specialised working team, in order to provide a safe and modernised contemporary environment to exchange data and information effectively and efficiently, so to guarantee the continuity, consolidation and sustainability between the two bodies.
H.E. Abdullah Sultan Al Owais expressed his pride of the achievement saying: “This project contributes in fully integrating databases, preserving and archiving them electronically. This will strengthen the business environment in the Emirate of Sharjah by facilitating and expediting access to information by all business sectors in the emirate, in line with the government smart vision in serving clients and meeting their requirements and fulfilling their expectations.”
Al Owais added: “By moving forward toward investing in IT infrastructure, SCCI aims at smoothing the flow of work and associated services according to the highest international standards, and coping with the fast-pace digital transformation and latest technologies, so all databases are connected and virtually merged through the highly advanced servers available in the chamber and Expo Centre.”
From his side, Abdul Aziz Al Houli, Director of Information Technology at SCCI hailed the joint efforts exerted by the working teams of the chamber and Expo Centre Sharjah in getting the merge process completed and seeing the light for the benefit of the society and all economic sectors.
Al Houli said: “The merge will significantly contribute in reducing paper consumption in all types of business transactions and handlings, transforming all the chambers inquiries to be conducted and processed digitally, achieving a more unified and consistent standardisation and preciseness when it comes to providing the needed information and consolidating the culture of minimising paper consumption so to preserve the environment and natural resources.”
The merger of all shapes of resources will be customised by providing information and databases that are more comprehensive for the concerned parties. This will take place through the usage of the newly-set system, display of the data and presenting them more effectively and efficiently. Also, the merge highly takes into consideration the protection of the safety and privacy of the inquired information, and so preserving, modernising and sustaining the flow efficiency of bigger data packages and more comprehensive information packs that are connected with other related centres’ networks in research, data, auditing and governance toward reaching high levels of performance and quality.
