Having launched with 11 companies in December last year, the Emirates Defence Industries Company, EDIC, has announced that another five companies are joining the new entity, according to sources at IDEX 2015.
EDIC is an integrated national defence services and manufacturing platform that brings together companies from Tawazun Holding, Mubadala Development Company and Emirates Advanced Investment Group into a single entity. Homaid Al Shemmari is EDIC's Chairman, and Luc Vigneron (previously of Thales) has been named CEO.
First-phase companies comprised Al Taif Technical Services, Bayanat for Mapping and Surveying Services and Horizon International Flight Academy from Mubadala, NIMR Automotive, Tawazun Dynamics and Tawazun Precision Industries from Tawazun, and C4 Advanced Solutions, Secure Communications and Thales Advanced Solutions from EAIG.
Joining EDIC in this second phase are Advanced Military Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Centre (AMMROC) from Mubadala, and four Tawazun companies: Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Investment, Burkan Munition Systems, Caracal International, and Caracal Light Ammunition.
