Violent clashes in Port Said have killed over 30 people Cairo – Mohammed Mostafa Port Said port is functioning normally despite violent clashes in the city after a court ruling which sentenced 21 locals to death, port director Major General Ahmed Sharaf said ."The port authority building was pelted with rocks by angry protesters, breaking the glass, but no break-in took place and no-one was injured or killed at the port," Sharaf told Arabstoday, adding that police is now guarding the port and that army reinforcements are also en route.
Sharaf also said that he had ordered the gates to be locked, adding, "the decision to shut the port down has not been taken yet and I hope the situation will not require us to do that. We will assess things as they develop."
