Sudan’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning announced the formation of a tripartite joint committee to eliminate bad foreign debts on Sudan. The ministry said that the committee will include the governments of Sudan and South Sudan, as well as the African Union, noting that it works on a technical plan to benefit from the debt elimination initiative.
Sudanese Minister of Finance Magdi Hassan Yassin said in a press statement on Saturday that the tripartite committee is scheduled to hold its first meeting during the first week of March, in the presence of all members. He stressed that the Ministry of Finance are working to benefit from the initiatives launched to drop the country’s debt, as well as the new economic conditions, after the lift of the economic ban and credit risks.
Yassin explained that the ministry has a technical plan for debt elimination relief, through providing the financial technical document, stressing that the government of Sudan’s move comes in the framework of the tripartite committee.
