Accompanies Musical and Art Extravaganza

The world-renowned Italian songwriter and contemporary artist Roberto Amadè will be conducting his own brand of improvised singing in a workshop entitled ‘Circle Song-Writing’ to coincide with his unique musical and painting performanceat Flag Island on November 3, 2016.

The songs are a form of choral improvisation in which Amadè creates the melody, then gradually bringsin the singers. The experience of the ‘Circle Songs’ allows students to work on listening skills, intonation, memory, emotion, rhythm, body, energy, breath and then the voice.

According to Amadè, the masterclass, designed by vocalist Bobby McFerrin, becomes a journey to discover the extraordinary potential of improvisation.The workshop will take place between 4pm-6pm before a live performance which will precede Roberto’s inspirational act.

Roberto Amadèsaid: “Whichever art form we practice, improvisation is one of the most difficult but rewarding exercises there is. So many different skills are needed simultaneously and the more elements and more people that are involved, the greater concentration that is needed. It is hard work, but enormously enjoyable and a highly effective way to improve range and rhythm.”

Influenced heavily by Richard Wagner, Amadè combines his experience to create a masterclass that is based not only on a practical execution of choral improvisation, but also introduces creative writing in which he illustrates various ways of writing a song.

In an entirely self-produced concert, Amadè combines his skills to create ”CamouFLAGe” an art performance usinga range of acrylic paints and musical instruments.During the performance, hewill paint an abstract impression of the flag of the United Arab Emirates on a giant canvas in time to the music.

The audience will also be treated to transitional performances and food stations will be on hand to provide traditional snacks.

In preparation for the event, Amadè worked with the famous African-American singer Joey Blake and Beatbox World Champion, Gene Shinozaki.

Roberto Amadè(34 years old) is an award-winning artist who has won several awards including the National Prize of Italian Music ‘Umberto Bindi’, the ‘Area Sanremo’ and Napoli Cultural Classic as Best Singer-Songwriter of the year and in 2013 he received acoveted Honourable Mention from the Conservatory of Music ‘Luca Marenzio’. His works are regularly sold by the prestigious Contemporary Art Auction "Meeting Art" by Mario Carrara, Amadè is also the director and the composer of the television Code of "Meeting Art".
