Black February is showing in Egypt now Egyptian actor Khaled Saleh expressed his happiness at the positive reception his new film has garnered following its recent debut in cinemas in Egypt. Speaking at an exclusive interview with Arabstoday, the star also extended his sympathy to the Arab company which produced Black February, which could see a dip in revenues due to the social unrest currently experienced in Egypt.
Black February is a comedy that focuses on a group of scientists that are neglected in their home lives. Written and directed by Mohammed Amin, the film co-stars a host of Arab talent, including Amal Rizk, Rania Shaheen, Tariq Abdel Aziz and Ahmad Zaher.
The Egyptian star is keeping busy while waiting for the release of his last project The Thief and The Madman, currently filming scenes for his role in the upcoming Ramadan series Pharaoh. The plot follows the journey of a self-made business man and the obstacles he encounters will climbing his way to the top.
The series is written by Mohamed Amin Radi and directed by Muhammad Ali and co-stars Jumana Murad, Ahmed Safwat, and Ahmed Fouad Selim.
Asked about the current state of affairs in Egypt, Saleh expressed his hope that his home country will be able to re-establish peace and stability, saying Egypt can get through any difficulty.
The veteran actor said: “I am a fighter at heart and I never give up. I know Egypt will be able to come through this chaos stronger.”
Saleh pointed to the success of Luxor International Film Festival of African Cinema, despite the political and social unrest.
“It highlights the good intentions and sincere effort put in by those who supported the event and made it something to be proud of. I hope it will help Egyptian cinema go forward and open channels of communication again with our African brothers. It is a great honour for me to be a part of it,” added Saleh.
