Egyptian singer Hatem Fahmy
Cairo – Hazem al Masri
Egyptian singer Hatem Fahmy said that his first album 'Don't worry about me' helped him to reach a bigger audience.Fahmy said that his long absence because of his patience in choosing the best
songs; especially after breaking the contract with Goodnews company, to appear again with his new album "I still got the power" with Rosenama for film and music production, which he considers a message from the heart of the rebels . 'Arabs Today' met Famy and
asks about his latest news…
First, what are the reasons behind breaking your contract with Goodnews?
We did not get along with each other, due to their financial problems and some differences in thinking, leading to terminate the contract immediately.
Why your album delayed all that time?
This album took a long time to be finished. After I left Goodnews, I was looking for a contract suits me, until producer Hesham Gamal offered me to join his company 'Rosenama' , so, after reading the contract I thought it is appropriate for me in the coming period.
So, what the details of the contract?
I agreed with them on 3 years contract to produce 3 albums, or 2 only according to the time it will take to finish them; besides this album which I will shoot 3 music video from it, and I will start with 'On my own' wrote by Tamer Hussein, composed by me, and arranged by Mady.
Do not you feel afraid of contracting with a company and a producer with no experience?
I contracted before with Ahmed El-Desouky, he was also new in the field with no experience, and we were lucky and succeeded together.
A lot of singers look for big companies and satellite channels to get benefit from their publicity, why you did not do that?
Audience is becoming smarter, so you must respect your audience and the work you introduce to them, not to fool them with a lot of buzz; if they feel the publicity is over they not pay attention to it, and you will lose them forever. That is why contracting with a company with satellite channels is double edged weapon.
You were preparing the album before the outbreak of the Egyptian
revolution, what did the revolution add to album?
I have changed some of the songs, and I took a lot of time to find a song fits with those events, and it ended to be the title of the album 'I still got the power', which I liked its lyrics and got a sense of optimism and change, so I decided to make it the head of the album.
The time to release the album was difficult; do you consider it a risk?
I did not set a time to release the album, the time has been arranged upon since I signed the contract with the company, but I do not see it as a risk, because 'reward sweetens labor' and I made unusual effort with my whole team work, even the producer whom I asked for his opinion in a lot of things. Thanks God, I am glad my album sold more than others released months before it, and this is according to senior distributors and many statistics on radio stations and satellite channels.
We learned that you are preparing for the new album from now, and started to select new songs; Is that true?
This is my surprise for my audience, I am working on it with producer Hesham Gamal, but the Album theme will be completely different from any album in the market. I already started working sessions to choose songs and melodies.
I will introduce in this album only five songs, all of them will be duets with other singers, but I will not reveal more details about the album, to make it a surprise for my audience.
And what about Cinema?
I love acting since I entered the showbiz, but I did not find yet the opportunity that attracts me to act in a film; also I was waiting to prove myself as a singer first then I think of acting. I remember after I made my music video 'Mother', a lot of my friends commented in my acting performance and praised it, and they told me I could act.
