Cairo – Mohammed Alloush

Egyptian actor Ahmed Ezz Cairo – Mohammed Alloush Egyptian actor Ahmed Ezz has told Arabstoday that he voted for a presidential candidate he thought was capable of making Egypt a civil state without bias. He also said he was happy to work with Ahmed El Sakka and Sherif Mounir in the movie “El-Maslha” (Drug Shipment), while saying he was not partial to the police.
Arabstoday had an exclusive interview with the young star:
AT: Is the timing right for the movie's release?
AE: In fact, the timing makes no difference to me. Egypt has priority over anything in the current situation. While my movie “365 Youm Saada" (365 Days of Happiness) was being screened in cinemas, the revolution broke out and my priority was the people's fight for their rights.
AT: Are you not concerned about doing your movies with different producers?
AE: "El-Maslha" was produced by Wael Abdullah while "Helm Aziz"(Aziz’s Dream) by Isaad Younis...both producers care about our mutual interests in choosing different release dates for the two movies.
AT: Why was the release of "El-Maslha" potsponed?
AE: The film was ready weeks ago. The postponement was a decision by the producers after we decided we could not screen it after there were casualties around the ministry of defence (the Abbassiya clashes). We though we had to wait until the situation calmed down and summer holiday began.
AT: The movie is accused of favouring the police and it was edited to change the view, is this true?
AE: Absolutely not...we do not glorify any individual, but the police are great and we should not eliminate them, because they secure our country. There are many martyrs among them, and I personally have two friends who sacrificed themselves while serving their country as police staff.
AT: What can you say about starring in a movie with actor Ahmed El Sakka?
AE: What concerns us in the end is our success. We do not consider the success of each actor individually, my success is Sakka’s success and vice versa, especially sine he is not only my colleague, but he and his family are quite close to me.  I am very pleased to interact with him on both personal and professional levels. Moreover, the movie is directed by Sandra Nashaat and produced by Wael Abdullah whom I owe a lot to.
AT: What about "Aziz’s Dream" and the supposed release at the end of July?
AE: I do not get involved in deciding the release date of any movie, because these are matters for producers. I should admit that it is a beautiful experience for me to star in such a movie because I love comedies. Amr Arafa, one of the most important directors whom I worked with before, has a unique style. I also got to work with the beautiful Sherif Mounir. I wish the movie could be screened in better circumstances in the country.
AT: Did you cast your vote in the presidential election?
AE: I  did, but I kept my vote to myself. I do not want to announce the name of my candidate because I am a famous actor and hence some people might be influenced by my personal opinion which is not good. People should choose according to their own beliefs. I chose the man whom I trust is capable of making Egypt a civil state that respects all religions, groups and different communities. He should give priority to the considerable number of poor and illiterate Egyptians. I hope all of us unite for Egypt’s best interests.
