Burberry Prorsum womenswear at London Fashion Week
London – Sheeffah Shiraz

Burberry Prorsum womenswear at London Fashion Week London – Sheeffah Shiraz Even before stepping into the venue, it was evident that today’s show was going to be phenomenal — after all Burberry was known to amaze. Following its menswear collection runway at Milan Fashion Week, expectations were definitely high , but no one actually knew what to expect. Were we going to see an array of bright shades storming down the catwalk similar to Milan or was designer Christopher Bailey going to give us a palette of subtleness to stamp the spring/summer season with? It really was just a waiting game.
The show opened in a spectacular manner and as the first model made her way on to the runway, the darkness surrounding us magnificently transformed, as the venue’s blinds gradually lowered to let in the blazing natural light. Yes, this was Bailey’s flawless way to re-capture the summer spell and zone our minds back into holiday mode.
So what did Burberry have on the menu? From trenches, to capes to pencil skirts, it seemed like Bailey had a very sophisticated attire in mind for us. But it was the multitude of colours that had everyone talking, celebrating what became known as the ‘Quality Street’ moment. Foil hues of gold, green, raspberry, maroon and fuchsia dominated the catwalk, colour after colour catching your eye and leaving an impact. The metallic shades on the trenches gave Burberry’s staple look that one extra milestone, marking its individuality that no one would ever be able to take away from the brand.
Whilst pencil skirts with fishtail hems, micro knickers and cocoon coats wowed us, it was the cute, chic and graceful capes perched on the shoulders that brought along the customary brilliance of Burberry.
Christopher Bailey described this latest collection as "a little bit sassier, a little bit sexier, and a little bit more joyful" which it evidently was and just as we were getting our head round the striking pieces we had seen storm the runway, the virtuoso designer sent out a rainbow of metallic trench coats to extravagantly close the show. From bold, bright colours to luxurious, rich detail, it seems our British summer is set and stone, come rain or shine.
