Vreeland was known for her passion for haute couture fashion The trend-setting wardrobe of Diana Vreeland, legendary icon of the fashion world, will be up for grabs at the London-based Kerry Taylor Auctions on June 24. The collection includes fashionable dresses owned by Diana Vreeland, the editor-in-chief of world renowned fashion magazines including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar during the 60’s.
Vreeland holds credits for the launch and success of leading fashion designers like Oscar de la Renta, Diane von Furstenberg and Manolo Blahnik.
Vreeland’s attire created fashion statements in the glamour world of her era and was known for her passion for haute couture fashion and high-quality classics, according to Vogue.
The collection that is to be auctioned has been donated by a close friend of Vreeland, and will include the popular Yves Saint Laurent navy wool coat with the scarlet ribbon of the French knighthood Legion d'Honneur award won by her.
While Vreeland’s reputation in the fashion world is well known, the actual breadth of her career and extent of her reach is immeasurable.
“The true gold standard of fashion and style credibility, Diana Vreeland is responsible for launching many iconic careers, establishing countless trends that have stood the test of time, and bringing an unprecedented and incontrovertible perspective to the fashion world that has scarcely been seen since,” says dianavreeland.com.
