The UAE-Egyptian volunteer medical team conducted four successful surgeries to transplant heart valves into patients suffering from a heart enlargement.
The move comes within the framework of the joint UAE- Egyptian voluntary programme for the treatment of pathological conditions of needy groups. One hundred heart surgeries will be conducted as per the voluntary initiative of the Zayed Giving Initiative, the Saudi - German hospital, Dar Al Ber Society, Ain Shams Hospital, Egyptian Volunteer Society and Emirates Volunteer Association.
Emirati heart surgeon, Dr. Adel Al Shamri, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, said the surgeries are part of a campaign "Heart to Heart", which aims to provide the best diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical and preventive services to the needy heart patients.
He pointed out that the medical and surgical volunteer team managed over the past years to treat thousands of heart patients in various Egyptian governorates.
For her part, Maryam Yousef, Goodwill Ambassador, explained that the Zayed Giving Initiative and its partners harnessed all the human and technical potentials to make the surgeries successful, and added that the team included cardiac consultants and surgeons, as well as surgical and nursing cadres.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber Society, said the medical team offers free medical services to the needy patients to ease the burden on them.
