Cairo – Yousry Mohamed

African immigrants Cairo – Yousry Mohamed Security sources in Ismailia have said that around a hundred African immigrants — which included thirty five women and three children — had been detained in a number of police stations and prisons in the governorate. Although the court had not found them guilty, they had, however, ordered them to be deported
The arrests were made in April when the individuals were found trying to sneak into Israel through the Egyptian border and caused police stations to become overcrowded, with many officials fearing the spread of infectious diseases amongst the detainees and the Egyptian region
The sources confirmed that the immigrants were of Ethiopian nationality and the court had ordered them to be sent back to Ethiopia July 15 at the expense of their embassy. However, the embassy had ignored the court's ruling which led to a delay in the deportation. The sources also added that the presence of immigrants increased the financial costs and burdens on the Egyptian Interior Ministry. Around four hundred and fifty African immigrants have been arrested and prosecuted in Ismailia and Sinai during the first half of this year
Israel has recently enacted a law to punish illegal immigrants and imprison them for around 3 years if caught due to this growing problem
