The therapists' and psychologists union, founded in 2008 by its president, Professor Leila Shaikhani Nakouz, aims to regulate and develop psychotherapy in Lebanon. A one-day conference of the
union is scheduled for Saturday.
"Psychotherapy: Ethics and Profession" will be hosted by the UNESCO Palace in Beirut.
An organiser and a member of the executive board, public relations officer Simon Abu Jouda said: "The guest of the conference is the head of World Council of Psychotherapy and president of the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna, Professor Alfred Britz, who uses the title of the conference in his speech to tell us the state of the profession globally.”
After the opening, the union's president will focus her speech on the importance of the union in Lebanon, along with its objectives, role, development and other activities.
Lecturers, members of the union, psychologists and professors from private and local universities are also due to tackle other subjects such as professional ethics, neuroscience and psychotherapy.
