The Capital Club, Dubai’s premier private City Club and member of the ENSHAA group of companies, was the scene of a culinary, media, and motorsport trifecta this past week with the inauguration of the ‘Signature Club Series’ – an initiative put together by the Club’s management company, Signature Clubs International (SCI).
Presided over by internationally acclaimed TV broadcaster Riz Khan, the latest addition to the Club’s notable Membership roster, the evening featured a gourmet dining experience courtesy of acclaimed Chef Andy Toh, Chef de Cuisine at Hakkasan Dubai, and saw the first real time collaboration between the Dubai Club and its two sister clubs in Bahrain and East Africa.
The evening’s glitz and glamour kicked off with the announcement of the ‘Signature Club Series’ grand raffle draw, in which Members of the three clubs had the chance to win two premier fully inclusive hospitality tickets to the race weekend of the 2014 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix, taking place from the 19th to 21st of September this year. Club Members from Bahrain and East Africa tuned in via a live stream video link up to find out who the lucky winner was, with the first prize going to Capital Club Dubai Member Lucy Chow. In addition, Ben Wandawanda, a Member of the East Africa Club, received a McLaren limited edition 50th anniversary book and cufflinks.
Emma Cullen, General Manager of Capital Club Dubai, commented, “Celebrity Chef evenings are always a highlight of the Club’s social calendar, and this was no exception, especially as this was the first opportunity we had to link up with our sister clubs in real time. The Capital Club prides itself on creating a real sense of community among its Members and it was wonderful to see that our community is not limited to only our Members in Dubai, but indeed includes our fellow Members in Bahrain and East Africa.”
The winner, Lucy Chow, remarked “Ray and I want to thank SCI and Singapore Grand Prix for the amazing privilege of being able to attend the only night time F1 and the circuit with the most corners in the F1 calendar! We know this will definitely be a highlight for us in 2014 and are very much looking forward to the trip.”
The excitement of the raffle draw was followed by a superb dining experience featuring Michelin-starred modern authentic Cantonese cuisine, courtesy of Hakkasan Dubai.
The Dubai Club’s Members and their guests were treated to a three-course menu that was beautifully paired with beverages by Olivier Gasselin, Hakkasan’s Head Sommelier for the Middle East and Shanghai. The menu commenced with a stir-fry vegetable and pine nut lettuce wrap and Hakkasan’s signature Hakka steamed dim sum platter. This was followed by a main course that included such delights as Hakkasan’s roast chicken with satay sauce, steamed red snapper with yellow bean sauce, and the new OsmanthusWagyu beef rib eye, which has been created specially by Chef Andy for Hakkasan’s Dubai customers. Rounding off the evening’s gastronomic delights, diners enjoyed a delectable chocolate marquise accompanied by mandarin sorbet.
A percentage of the evening’s proceeds from ticket sales will go to INJAZ – UAE, the Club’s charity of choice.
