Lufthansa and Iberia give option of printing luggage tags at home to save time
Frankfurt - Arab Today

Lufthansa and Iberia give option of printing luggage tags at home to save time The German airline has launched HomeTag, a service that allows passengers to save time during check-in by printing their luggage tags before arriving at the airport. Currently available only on flights between Frankfurt and Tokyo-Narita , the option allows travelers to download and print their HomeTag when checking in online.
Identical to the one provided by the check-in desk at the airport, the tag shows all of the relevant flight and passenger information, including name, baggage claim number and departure/destination airports. The bar code also contains all of this information.
Upon arrival at the airport, the passenger places the HomeTag in one of the tag holders provided by the airline and attaches it to their luggage. The bags can then simply be dropped off at the dedicated check-in desk or at an automated drop-off station. At least in principle, the service will allow passengers to avoid lines at the check-in desk and spend less time at the airport before their flight.
For enhanced security and luggage tracking, the tag holders have a QR Code and a RFID (radio-frequency identification) chip. This means that the bags can be tracked even if the tag is damaged.
The service will soon be available on additional flights from Frankfurt and Munich to other destinations in Japan and the US.
Last July, the Spanish airline Iberia became the first carrier to offer a similar service when it launched MyBagTag.
