Luxor - Arab Today

Tourists at Luxor City Luxor City, the world's greatest open-air museum, has warmly welcomed the first British tourist group after the UK authorities decided to lift its travel ban on Egypt's tourist destinations. Luxor Governor General Tarek Saad, Luxor Airport Director Mahmoud el-Arabi, Luxor Security Director General Mostafa Bakr, as well as a galaxy of tourist experts and officials in the governorate received the 60-man British group Monday night.
In statements at the airport, Luxor Governor said he is upbeat over the arrival of several tourist groups, noting that this is one of the fruitful outcomes of Luxor participation in London Tourism Bourse, held early in November.
He also thanked strenuous efforts by Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou to restore UK tourists to Luxor and Aswan.
Also, Ramadan Haji, a tourist expert and owner of a tourist operator, praised efforts by the Tourism Ministry and the Tourism Activation Authority in luring in more tourists to Egypt from various world countries.
He also called for operating direct flights between London and Luxor to bring in more UK tourists to Luxor city.
Haji also said Luxor will receive a UK group every week, noting that the British tourists are thoroughly understanding the situation in Egypt and voiced their appreciation for the Egyptian government efforts to reinvigorate tourism movement.
