Venice has edged past Paris to top a survey of the most romantic places in the world, according to some of the world’s wealthiest travelers in advance of Valentine’s Day.
In a survey conducted by luxury retail site VeryFirstTo, known for organizing outrageous, extravagant travel packages such as trips to every triple Michelin-starred restaurant in the world and UNESCO heritage sites, the top three most romantic cities that were cited began with Venice, followed by Paris and Santorini, Greece.
Overall, the list of top 10 most romantic destinations is dominated by Italy, which claimed three spots for Rome, Venice and Florence, receiving twice as many votes as its closest competitor, France.
For the survey, participants were asked to name the most romantic destination in the world.
Venice seems to still be enjoying a major tourism boost thanks to last year's glamorous, high-profile wedding of George Clooney.
Couples with deep pockets looking to celebrate their love in high style this Valentine’s Day can partake in another extravagant travel package organized by VeryFirstTo and partner Hurlingham Travel.
