This month at The View from the Shard, the London skyscraper's viewing gallery, certain visitors might buy Buckingham Palace, open a hotel at Wembley Stadium or find themselves stuck in jail. A giant version of Monopoly will remain in place at the attraction throughout December.
Set up at the viewing gallery on the 69th floor of the Shard, which stands at over 300 meters tall, this special version of Monopoly includes life-size game pieces and a giant board. In addition to enjoying a panoramic view of the British capital's skyline, visitors to The View from the Shard this month can also purchase some of the real estate below -- at least within the gameplay.
To take part in the giant board game, Monopoly fans need only book a visit to The View from the Shard during the month of December. Tickets are priced at £24.95 for adults (around $40) or £18.95 for children or disabled individuals (around $30). Players can also stop by the skyscraper's gift shop to pick up Monopoly - The View from the Shard, a special edition of the game, produced in a limited series of 1,000 and priced at £30 (around $47).
Designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, the Shard is among the most recognizable elements of the British capital's skyline, towering over the London Bridge sector. At The View from the Shard, visitors can take in a 360° view over London. The tower also houses the five-star Shangri-La Hotel as well as multiple restaurants and offices.
