The Iraqi Observatory for Press Freedoms announced the death of 21 Iraqi journalists within a year, during the media coverage of the military operations against Daesh.

The director of the observatory, Hadi Glow Meri said in a report issued in World Press Freedom Day said that, most of these journalists are reporters and war photographers killed during their coverage to Iraqi forces operations in Mosul, Anbar, Tikrit and Diyala.

Meri confirmed that, this year report also mentions the violations against journalists such as, arrest, detention and trials all over Iraq, including Kurdistan region.
 

In the same context, the parliamentary committee of Culture and Information asked to form a committee to register all violations and threats against journalists while doing their job, in order to provide a secure environment for journalism in Iraq.
