Iraqi journalist and activist Jumana Mumtaz has been awarded the best junior media figure for her role in fighting the extremist ideologies of Islamic State (IS) group.
Mumtaz has used social media websites as platform to communicate with her followers in her fight against IS and promoting the co-existence culture. She also supported the Iraqi army’s effort in liberating Mosul and combating terrorism.
The 26-year old journalist and TV presenter made her first appearance in Hona Baghdad (Baghdad is here) where she worked as a TV presenter and correspondent in several TV shows. She was awarded the same prize in 2014 before she moved to work for al Mada TV satellite channel.
Mumtaz has been always calling on Arab leaders to aid families and children who were displaced in armed-conflict regions all over the Arab world.
