Sarah Al-Maslati
Tripoli - Arabstoday

Sarah Al-Maslati Some activists mentioned used Facebook to express their anger over the head of the National Transitional Council Mustafa Abdel Jalil's prevention of the presenter at the general national conference Sarah Al-Maslati, from going on stage for not wearing a veil.
Activists referred to Abdel Jalil’s words at the ceremony in which he said “we as a people are celebrating religious rites today and we have traditions." Activists believe this was a reference to the unveiled presenter.
Abdel Jalil mentioned to God his thankfulness for this historic moment and said at the end of the ceremony that this is a great day, the day of liberating the Libyan capital Tripoli from Gaddafi rule, and that it has an immense effect on the whole Muslim nation coming on the 20th day of Ramadan, which is said to be the day the Prophet Mohammed entered Mecca in victory.
Counsellor Abel Jalil is known to be a salafi, practicing Muslim, and as mentioned in more than one interview, he feels it is important to follow Islamic Shariah.
The presenter of the Libyan Al-Asima TV channel airing the ceremony from Tripoli criticised Abdel Jalil harshly and described the ceremony as “farcial and unseemly for the historic moment”, saying although Abdel Jalil doesn’t wear a beard, he dismissed a presented because she was not veiled.
Al-Asima Channel had reported on its news bar that members of the National Council had decided to claim the luxurious Rixos Hotel as their permanent residence and lavish cars will be given to each member. Media sources have informed Arabstoday that the National Council members are about to file a lawsuit against the channel for spreading false news.
