Journalists' Union branch in Latakia
Damascus - Lamar Arkinda

Journalists demanded during their annual conference in the Journalists' Union branch in the city of Latakia to improve the financial situation of journalists and increase the value of health insurance for them. They also demanded to maintain health insurance of journalists after retirement and raise compensation for journalists. They also asked for providing communication means for reporters to ease the burden of communication in their work. During the annual conference, the journalists called for the authorities to provide support for families of killed journalists and provide the radio and television station in Latakia by more cameras to cope with the evolution of work and expansion.
The journalists called on protecting the profession of “hackers” in light of the spread of Facebook pages and media websites.
Governor of Latakia Ibrahim Khader Salem delivered a speech at the opening of the conference addressing the journalists, saying that they are partners of the executive authority in the follow-up and treatment for all issues and problems by highlighting them and proposing solutions, stressing that the door is open to journalists in all public joint government institutions for obtaining information that serves their purposes and their subjects.
For his part, President of the Union of journalists Moussa Abdelnour pointed out that Syria achieved victory thanks to the sacrifices of their sons and the cohesion of its army, people and leadership.
