In the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Centre, HE Abdullah Sultan Al-OwaisChairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry launched the new website of the Chamber. The launch event was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin HumaidAl Qasimi, Director of the Department of Statistics and Community Development, HE Khawla Al Mulla, Chairperson of the Sharjah Consultative Council, HE Khalid bin Butti Al Hajri, Director General of SCCI, HE Ahmed Rashid Al Jarwan, Secretary General of the Consultative Council, HE Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of SMC, and Mariam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant Director General for Logistics, SCCI, in addition to top officials representing the Chamber and the government of Sharjah.

The launch took place at the Sharjah e-Government pavilion at the GITEX Technology Week 2016, currently held in Dubai. The newly designed website features more streamlined functionality on a stronger platform, and is compatible with smartphones and tablets. HE Abdullah Sultan Al-Owais, Chairman of SCCI said:“The chamber updates its services on a regular basis, while its strategic objectives remain unchanged. The continuous development strategy adopted by the SCCI is consistent with the strategic objectives of the government of Sharjah. 

We aim to provide our corporate and individual clients with an array of high quality services in a safe environment. This will further improve the customer satisfaction score and will help move up Sharjah and the UAE’s ranking on the happiness index”, he added. 

H.E. Khalid bin Butti Al Hajri, Director General of SCCIsaid: “The new website will be a transparent communication tool, through which clients can view the chamber activities, services and decisions in an interactive fashion”. 

Mariam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant Director General for Logistics said: “The update of both the functions of the website and the level of online services reflects our broad experience in customer service. The review of the website and services will help us improve its functionalities on a regular basis. The quality of service will be measured by the number of visitors who will visit the website”.

Abdulaziz Al Houli, Director of Information Technology at the SCCI, said: “World-class technologies were utilized in the process of designing and building the website. We created this responsive and interactive website, which is compatible with all devices, to make it easy to use and navigate for all users”.

The set of e-services includes the e-directory and the search engine which enables users to search for information about companies, factories and other economic activities in both onshore or free zones.   

The certificate of origin, e-attestation and e-payment are part of the available online services. Other services are the bids and tenders, job applications, the access to training and development centre and the media centre.
