A total of 15,668 teachers from schools in Abu Dhabi yesterday began a professional development week, aimed at enhancing their capacities and achieving best results in the province.

The week will run till 5th January.

Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Education Council, ADEC, and Mohammad Salem Al-Dhaheri, ADEC's Executive Director of School Operations Sector, visited the training workshops at the schools in Abu Dhabi. The workshops are also being attended by 324 school principals.

During his meeting with the teachers on the first day, Dr. Al Nuaimi said the council was keen to provide all forms of support to those working in the field of education and build their capacities in line with the ambitious vision of the State.

He added that the professional development programme was aimed at helping personnel engaged in the education and administrative domains to learn new skills and most advanced teaching techniques to enhance the quality of education they impart.

Al-Dhaheri said the initiative would help build the capacities and skills of teachers. The council has drafted a comprehensive plan to improve the capacities of personnel involved in the field of education and thus ensure that students have the best opportunities, he added.
