Haniyeh during his participation in the revival of Palestinian Teacher's Day   Gaza – Mohammed Habib   Hamas's Prime Minister in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh announced that 2012 will celebrated as “Education Year” in Gaza, adding that the government would give a $100 bonus to teachers in the Gaza Strip.Addressing the audience in a “Palestine Teacher's Day” celebration, Haniyeh said: “Our participation
in this celebration every year is because of our love and appreciation for teachers and their role in educating Palestinian generations that will take responsibility on all fronts.”
He also pointed out that the Palestinian teacher is suffering because of the Israeli occupation, stressing that teachers in Gaza faced a lot of difficulties during the war and the siege.
In addition, Haniyeh welcomed the Algerian delegation, which attended the celebration in its visit to Gaza to support the Palestinian cause, thanking the Arab countries for their efforts to end Gaza’s siege.
In his speech, Haniyeh also spoke about his tour to some Arab and Islamic countries, stressing that the tour achieved its goals to end the blockade to the Hamas government. Hamas also announced that the government would give teachers in Gaza transportation allowance while the Palestinian Legislative Council is discussing a law to raise teachers’ salaries by 30 to 40 per cent.
