Amman - Arab Today

University of Jordan (UJ) campus in Amman The disciplinary board of Jordan’s Mutah University on Wednesday expelled seven students and suspended nine others for three academic semesters for their involvement in riots last April.
The university issued a press release stating that it would also be investigating recent violent events, adding that it would take similar actions against students found to be responsible.
According to the Jordan Times newspaper, classes were suspended on April 2, after 21-year-old student Osama Duheisat was killed and several others were injured in clashes between students from different tribes.
Duheisat’s death led to riots in his hometown of Faqou.
Another fight among students was reported last week at the university, leading to several injuries and suspension of classes for a day.
On Monday, 70 students were summoned for questioning over the scuffle.
The results of the investigation will be referred to the disciplinary council to take the necessary measures, the Jordanian news agency Petra quoted Dean of Student Affairs Ali Dmour as saying.
