Emirati women have been urged to continue working hard towards the development of their country.

On Thursday, Al Reem School hosted a panel discussion to mark Emirati Women's Day.

The speakers included Dr Amal Al Qubaisi, director general of the Abu Dhabi Education Council, Major Sarah Al Hajri, one of the first women pilots in the Air Force, and Amna Al Najdi, one of the first female teachers in the country.

Dr Al Qubaisi said the UAE's leaders had "invested in the education and development of its national women and providing us equal opportunities to prove ourselves in every field.

"So, now it is our responsibility to pay back our country.”

She said the UAE should be proud that is the only country in the Gulf region that had established a separate military training institute for women.

Ms Al Najdi urged Emirati women to continue their studies.

"Education does not stop with a university degree. It's a continuous process which everyone should follow until their last breath,” she said.
